The also includes estimates mass CO2 that could be stored (retained) as result CO2-EOR activities. USGS team evaluated more than 3,500 miscible injected CO2. assessed are in 185 previously defined plays 33 petroleum provinces 7 national regions. estimated associated with ranges from approximately 25,000 million barrels (MMbbl) at P5 percentile much 32,000 MMbbl P95 percentile, mean 29,000 MMbbl. retention 7,400 metric tons (Mt) 9,500 Mt 8,400 Mt. West Texas Eastern New Mexico region Gulf Coast together contain 60 percent potential 61 retention. Other regions significant resource include Midcontinent Rocky Mountains Northern Great Plains region.
